As we initially decided on products for equipping cycling infrastructure, a bicycle rack is imposed as the basic product. Copying "other people's" products in every industry is very easy nowadays, but to get a completely new functional product still requires imagination, knowledge and experience. It is good that nowadays it can be relatively quickly checked whether you have launched a unique product on the market. So right in 2019 we went to protect the design of the rack at the hr level ( D20190110 ) and at the beginning of this year the design is also protected at the EU level ( RCD 015012950-0001 ).
Design
It is unique in design that allows every city, TZ, company .. it has "its own" bike rack because by choosing colors, logos and adding a QR code, the rack becomes your brand.
Norms, regulations.. ??
From the beginning, when designing and designing, we tried to make the rack fully functional, but after several deliveries, we received negative reviews as reactions to the non-functionality of the rack. Although most of the criticism was unjustified, we decided to take the next step that should prove to us that we are on the right track.
We went in search of norms, regulations, recommendations related to racks and bicycle parking lots. In HR there is only a rulebook on cycling infrastructure and only in Article 59 literally in one sentence refers to bicycle racks "(2) Parking devices should be fixed to the ground or facility in which they are located and allow safe and accessible binding of bicycles to the bicycle frame. ", but this is not what we need, so we have extended the search to the EU. Unfortunately, even at the EU level, there is no standard that refers to bicycle racks only recommendations made by the umbrella organization for cycling at the EU level and that is the ECF (European Cyclists' Federation). And so among the members of the EFC we came across the German ADFC (Allgemeiner Deutscher Fahrrad-Club) and found a solution to our problems.
In 2009 , ADFC developed technical guidelines that accurately define the test points of bicycle racks called "Technical guidelines TR6102-0911", which were translated into DIN 79008 in 2016. We bought this DIN to study all test points and thus found that only one test point was questionable on the MOON BR250 rack and that is the locking of the bike for the frame with a short D-lock.
In a short time we found a solution in the upgrade under the current name MOON LOCK.
After that , we sent a complete stand with accompanying documentation for testing to a certified company velotech.de GmbH .
The test was completed on 15.06.2023 and so the MOON stand BR250ML has proof that it has passed all test points, to our pride it received the DIN 7908-1 certificate : 2016-05.
